Hiring me as your birth doula includes:

Upon entering into a written agreement between myself, the doula, and you, the client, and paying the retainer fee (half of the full fee with the remainder due on or before the 37th week of your pregnancy, when I go on call for you) my services will then include 2-3 prenatal appointments at which time we will discuss your plans for the birth, what you expect of me as your doula, how I can assist your partner, and answer any questions or concerns you may have.  I go "on call" for you at 37 weeks of your pregnancy until the day your baby is born.  That means I will stay close to home and am prepared to go when I get your call.  By all means, if you go into labor before 37 weeks, I will do everything in my power to still attend your birth. Once you call me to say you are in active labor, I will come to your house or meet you at the hospital, which ever is determined to be the most beneficial by you.  I will stay with you through the entire labor and delivery to provide various emotional, physical, and informational support.  Once the baby and placenta are born and you feel comfortable with everything, I then leave (usually 1-2 hours post childbirth).  I am willing and able to provide breastfeeding support, as you feel needed, before I leave as well.  I will follow up with one or two postpartum visits to go over the birth and address any questions or concerns you may have.  As my client, you are able to call me or email me as much as you'd like with any questions or concerns at anytime.

What I don't do for you is make decisions or direct you to my personal opinion.  I can present evidence based information or potential risks and benefits, if you ask, but ultimately the decision is yours to make and I will support whatever you choose.  My focus is you, the mother.  'Cause if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!!!!  =)

Also, as much as I'd like to, I can't guarantee a particular outcome for your birth.  I promise to do my best to obtain your goals.  Refunds are not given unless it is decided to do a planned cesarean after the 37 weeks of pregnancy payment is made and you choose not to put those funds towards postpartum care.
